HCV Landlord Symposium

Calling all Landlords!!!! OHA is hosting a Landlord Symposium June 8, 2023, at 1:30 at the Opelika Public Library. Please see the attached letter for more information.

The Opelika Housing Authority (OHA) administers the Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) formally Section 8 to families in Lee, Chambers and Tallapoosa counties by, administering federal housing assistance funds, received from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on behalf of families.

The Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP") is the federal government's major program for assisting low to very low-income families, the elderly, veterans and the disabled, to afford decent, safe and sanitary housing in the private market. Since housing assistance is provided on behalf of the family or individual, participants are able to locate their own housing, including single-family homes, townhomes and apartments. This is where you come in.

• Do you want to receive stable rental income?
• Do you own or manage properties within the counties of Lee, Chambers, and/or Tallapoosa?
• Do you own or manage properties, which are not marketed on the HCV program by OHA?
• Do you want to become more familiar with the HCV program and ask questions about the program?

If the answer is yes, to either of the above questions, we invite you to attend the upcoming "Landlord Symposium", which will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 1:30 pm at the Opelika Public Library located at 1100 Glenn St, Opelika, AL 36801.

During this "Landlord Symposium", we will discuss the benefits of possible participation of the HCV Program, the program requirements, and we will explain the benefits of collaborating with the Opelika Housing Authority, to provide affordable housing options to families throughout these counties.

We will also explain and answer any questions related to the inquiries, such as the Housing Quality Standard (HQS) inspection protocol, OHA responsibilities, participant responsibilities, and property owner responsibilities.
