Opelika Warriors Shine at SERC MLK Tournament

The Opelika Housing Authority's (OHA) Warrior Basketball and Cheer Teams had a memorable weekend at the 2025 SERC MLK Basketball and Cheer Tournament in Columbia, SC. The tournament brought together teams from housing authorities across the region, and our youth showed up ready to compete and represent Opelika with pride.

The basketball team gave it their all on the court, with the 18U Warriors finishing in second place after some tough and exciting games. Their hard work and teamwork really stood out, and they made Opelika proud. The cheerleaders brought so much energy and enthusiasm, lifting the spirits of everyone there with their creative routines and nonstop encouragement for the players.

One of the highlights of the weekend was the Sneaker Ball. The kids had a great time dressing up while showing off their favorite sneakers. It was a fun way to take a break from the competition, hang out with friends, and make some lasting memories.

The tournament wasn't just about basketball and cheer-it was about coming together as a community and giving our youth the opportunity to grow, compete, and celebrate. None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our coaches, staff, parents, and volunteers who worked behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly.

We're so proud of our Warriors and for the way they carried themselves on and off the court. It was a great weekend full of exciting moments and good memories, and we can't wait to do it again next year!
